Welcome to our site where we talk about how we use vm technology for work and play. We also keep you up-to-date about the whole virtualization industry by providing a summary of vm related news spottings from all over the web.
We also have a few pre-built VMs that we keep updated on this site. IPCop and TrixBox are my two favorites. I use IPCop in production in about 6 Vi3 VMs and a few physical boxes and I use TrixBox in my home as a phone system.
I loaded this on VMware WS 5.5.1 and I don't know how to test it. I logged in as root and ran ifconfig to see the IP addresses, and I couldn't get to any web interface by viewing it in a browser at port 81.
My host is XP Pro and with one NIC plugged into a router. How can I test IPCop??
Check out the Readme.htm file in the zip that you downloaded. Some of the details in there are this: The IP address of the "inside" nic of this Virtual Router Appliance is 10.1.123.33/16. You'll have to set your physical nic to match or use the setup command inside the VM to adjust this IP. After that you just surf to http://INSIDE-NIC:81 and the rest is pretty much like a linksys router, only with a bazillion more features.

Sweet. Downloading it now...
Edit: Grrr. 3rd try to see if this comment goes through. Bloody Blogger 'word verification' (may want to try Haloscan or something for your comments).

Would BlockOutTraffic allow me to block bittorrent traffic but allow Skype? I never know what port one of my users might try to run these services on.
Has anyone tried ROPE?
